The story centers on Kaushik (Nikhil Devadula), a timid and introverted medical student whose life is entirely dictated by his parents. Kaushik is constantly bullied and feels stifled, leading to a deep-seated repression of his own desires and frustrations. This internal chaos soon takes a horrifying turn as Kaushik begins to hear a voice, which identifies itself as “Ghatikachalam.”

Initially, the voice gives out minor, mischievous commands, but it quickly escalates, taking full control of Kaushik’s actions. What follows is a slow and disturbing descent into psychosis, as Kaushik’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic and violent. His family watches helplessly, struggling to understand his sudden transformation and seeking various spiritual remedies. The film explores the idea that suppressed rage and unacknowledged trauma can manifest as a form of possession, intertwining psychological horror with elements of the supernatural. “Ghatikachalam” ultimately serves as a commentary on the emotional abuse children can face within seemingly normal households and the destructive power of unexpressed inner turmoil.
