Six years ago, Detective Dan Lawson worked on a case involving a gruesome serial killer whose victims were dismembered in horrifying ways. The case remained unsolved, and everyone moved on. Unexpectedly, Lawson is called to Scotland when a girl named Abigail Myres is murdered in a manner reminiscent of the previous killings. A copycat killer seems to be at work.

Assigned to the case, Lawson teams up with Detective Glen Boyd. They discover that the new murders are religiously motivated and possibly linked to a cult. As they investigate, another girl named Grace is killed in a similar manner.
