StoryLine:

In the harrowing yet so soothing landscape of rural Bihar, two of the most capable actors of Indian cinema Nawaz ji & Pankaj ji are meeting… the expectation is set so high, the stage is set, yet Pankaj ji after a fleeting presence goes away without justifying or rather playing the enigma built around that character like so many other small presence of some very good character actors. Anwar ki Ajab Kissa is a story of great promises and almost all of them falling a little short in delivery except for Nawaz ji. What an actor he is. I have a bone to pick with Buddhadeb babu being ardent follower of his movies. Satyajit babu was once asked why doesn’t he made films in Hindi or English and he said he was afraid that he might not be able to capture the nuances in an adopted language. Some emotions are best expressed in the language they are perceived, the translation fails to convey the emotion. This movie reminded me of that in some sequences. Having said that the cinematography is awesome.Anwar Ka Ajab Kissa.

Nobody could have captured the rural & urban beauty of Bengal & Bihar like Buddhadeb babu did in our contemporary times setting up the stage with a lingering taste afterwards. This movie is able to evoke empathy for all lives it depicts but falls short in nurturing them in some unfortunately holding it to become another timeless masterpiece of Buddhadeb babu.Anwar ka ajab kissa.. a movie brings back to you your childhood memories, stories songs with such a beautiful landscapes in the end to make you realize that a soulful silence and blissful moments is all that we need to understand of being what we are.
