The story centers on Sumukha (played by Sumukha), a fourth-year MBBS student who, after witnessing a peon’s death from a heart attack at his college, loses faith in medical science. Disillusioned, he drops out of his studies and dedicates his time to wandering the scenic beaches of Karnataka, swimming, and contemplating life while watching sunsets. His introspective journey takes a significant turn when he meets Rashika (Rashika Shetty), a budding cricketer. He falls deeply in love with her and follows her to Bengaluru.

However, Rashika, burdened by a hidden and terminal illness, asks Sumukha to meet her after six months and then disappears. Sumukha relentlessly searches for her, eventually finding her at an archaeological site with her friend Anjali (Anjali Anish), an archaeologist. There, he learns the devastating truth about Rashika’s health. The film then follows Sumukha’s determined efforts to find a way to heal her, exploring themes of selfless love, friendship, and sacrifice. The narrative also attempts to incorporate elements of tribal culture and traditional medicine, albeit with mixed results. Ultimately, “Manada Kadalu” is a philosophical exploration of love, life’s complexities, and the search for purpose, often challenging the characters to look beyond simple romance.
